WILLEMSTAD - In the morning hours of Friday, September 4, 2020, the Curaçao Police Force team charged with financial investigations and money laundering, led by the Public Prosecution Service (OM), held four house searches in the context of the "Girasol" investigation. This investigation focuses on forgery, misappropriation of subsidies and money laundering.
In van Engelen the woman L.P.G.C. (48 years) and the man C.E.C. (55 years old), both born in Curaçao, were arrested.
In a house in Kwartier a man A.S.V.I. (54 years), also born in Curaçao was arrested.
At an address in Sunset Heights a woman, C.O.G. (45 years), also born in Curaçao was arrested.
A search was also conducted at the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) and a foundation that receives a subsidy from the government.
In connection with this investigation, the team seized four (4) luxury cars, along with cash and documents important to the investigation. The suspects have been brought in front of a judge and are now in pre-trial detention pending the investigation. Further arrests in the coming days are not ruled out.
