Not a single Kingdom dossier is considered controversial

THE HAGUE – The Dutch political parties VVD, D66, CDA, PvdA, GroenLinks, and Party for the Animals have unanimously ensured that not a single Kingdom dossier has been declared controversial.

As if it was agreed upon, these parties made it clear today at the start of the meeting of the Second Chamber Committee for Kingdom Relations that, as far as they are concerned, no topic needs to wait for the formation of a new cabinet. In doing so, they preemptively took the wind out of the sails of the right-wing parties. While meetings of the Kingdom Relations committee typically draw 3 Members of Parliament, there were as many as 23 present today. They could disperse after just a few minutes.

So, the social minimum for the Caribbean Netherlands and the refinancing of the Covid loans to Curaçao, Aruba, and Sint Maarten, including the emergency loan for the Ennia debacle (totaling 1.8 billion euros), will be addressed by the Chamber as planned. However, the CAS countries would do well not to celebrate too soon, as a separate debate on the loans is scheduled for September 13.

A whopping 3 hours have been allocated for that. The refinancing will not be altered, but it can be expected that various parliamentary factions will raise the question of whether additional conditions should be imposed on the countries to put their financial policies in order.
