Monday, October 11, 2021, the government launches the website for a digital vaccination certificate

WILLEMSTAD - Persons traveling from Curaçao to Europe can register for a digital vaccination certificate in the form of a 'Digital Covid Certification' (DCC). This digital proof is an accepted and easy way to check if a person has been vaccinated. In the Netherlands and several other European countries, one must show the digital proof upon arrival in the country and even in restaurants, theaters, and public events. Due to the high vaccination coverage among the population in the Netherlands, together with the vaccination certificate, the Netherlands can mitigate most Covid-19 measures.

In addition to Europe, the DCC of Curaçao will also be used in the short term to check passengers who travel from Europe to Curaçao. In the coming period, the final preparations will be made to use the DCC locally, for example at cultural events and sporting events where more than 100 people come together. The application for a DCC in Curaçao in the form of a QR code is possible on www.curacaohealthapp.com from Monday, October 11, 2021 from 11 am. To be eligible for a DCC you must have a valid vaccination card. For the time being, only fully vaccinated individuals are eligible for a DCC.

The launch of the website www.curacaohealthapp.com is the first phase in the process of developing a digital application for iOS and Android smartphones, where it is also possible to demonstrate and ask for the vaccination certificate. This makes it easier for the user to demonstrate something during a check.

In the meantime, it is also possible to print a proof of the QR code for people who do not have a digital telephone. With this option, it is no longer necessary to go to Utrecht to request a QR code to use in Europe, a process that can take at least two weeks. It is advisable to request the proof via the website at least 48 hours before the trip. In the coming weeks, the Government of Curaçao will provide more information about the use of digital evidence and how to obtain the evidence.
