WILLEMSTAD - Recently Minister Hensley Koeiman of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) had a meeting with Mr Robert Hermans, director of "Development Urban & Regional data Centers" of Central Burau of Statistics (CBS) Netherlands to discuss the progress of the project "Labor market dashboard Curacao".
Since mid-2019, a close cooperation relationship has been established between CBS Curaçao, CBS Netherlands and the Ministry of SOAW. CBS Nederland has been supporting CBS Curaçao for some time in the application and (re) use of data in accordance with the latest technologies, to optimize data use on the island. This offers the possibility to the government of Curaçao to solve urgent social problems structurally and sustainably using data. To guarantee sustainable development of the Land, it is a requirement that data-driven management makes a visible contribution to more public value. As a precursor, the SOAW Ministry immediately took up this initiative with both hands and thus resulted in the project “Labor Market Dashboard Curaçao”.
During this meeting, Mr. Hermans gave Minister Koeiman a glimpse into the progress of this important project. Especially given the current situation on the labor market in Curaçao, it is important to have all relevant information regarding the labor market in a clear, transparent, and friendly manner. This allows everyone involved to access the actual data. The dashboard has been developed in such a way that it can be used not only for the labor market but also other important government policy themes. This allows policies to be formulated, decisions to be made, agreements to be made, etc.
Presentations will be held at the end of August for the Council of Minister and the social partners. Minister Koeiman is satisfied with the progress and is eagerly awaiting this presentation.
