WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Public Health Suzanne Camelia-Romer does not recognize the MoU with the St. Elisabeth Hospital (Sehos).
The MoU states, among other things, that the Country of Curaçao and the Sehos board agree that the residual debt of the Sehos will be settled by the Country. On Friday, it was announced that the Sehos board had filed a summary proceeding against the Country. This is to force the government to adhere to the MoU, because otherwise acute care would be endangered.
Camelia-Romer claims that in her opinion the MoU is invalid. The Sehos currently has a debt of more than 100 million guilders.
