WILLEMSTAD - The leadership of the MFK party and outgoing minister Javier Silvania announced yesterday that his resignation was part of a mutual agreement aimed at restoring calm within the Curaçaoan community and allowing space for an investigation into the recently publicized dispute between the minister and the Tax Receiver.
The statement, released by the party on Thursday afternoon and signed by well-known attorney Bertie Braam, explained that the decision was made in the interest of stability and transparency. On Wednesday afternoon, Silvania submitted his resignation as Minister of Finance and Health. The MFK leadership expressed its gratitude for his contributions in both positions.
As Silvania himself told the press after tendering his resignation to the Governor, Member of Parliament Tyron Boekhoudt will step down to make way for Silvania to return to Parliament and rejoin the MFK faction as an integral member.
The statement concluded with the following remark: “With this announcement, a chapter is closed, and the parties will issue no further statements to the press.”
