STRASBOURG - Newly-elected MEP Samira Rafaela made an urgent call to the European Commission in a recent debate of the European Parliament on the crisis in Venezuela to help the ABC islands with the reception of Venezuelan migrants.

Rafaela referred to the working visit she brought to Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire earlier this year, where she saw with her own eyes that the islands cannot handle it alone. She appealed to the European Commission to make funds available and to send experts to assist the islands.

For Samira Rafaela it was her first appearance in a plenary debate.
