MAN-PIN: Lack of transparency from Pisas in 30-year contract with Oryx Midstream

WILLEMSTAD - Former minister and member of the MAN-PIN party, Suzanne Camelia-Römer, regrets the way the government concluded the 30-year contract between Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK) and Oryx Midstream. The party member criticizes Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas (MFK) for unilaterally negotiating and finalizing the contract without sufficiently informing the community or parliament about the details.

According to Camelia-Römer, Pisas closed the refinery without giving any explanation, seriously damaging transparency and community involvement.

"It is unacceptable for the Prime Minister to make such decisions without consulting the population, as former Prime Minister Maria Liberia-Peters (PNP) did in the past by involving opposition members and unions in the negotiations," said Camelia-Römer, who was previously a member of the PNP.

The MAN-PIN member also points out the problems that arose with the company CPR, which committed fraud, and the same Prime Minister's warning in parliament that this would cause problems for the country. Camelia-Römer fears similar issues with Oryx Midstream, whose ownership structure is unclear, and no one knows exactly what the contract entails.

She calls for more transparency and community involvement in such important decisions.
