MAN inquiries about Curaçao's sustainable energy plans

WILLEMSTAD - The political party MAN in the Curaçao Parliament has posed questions regarding the recently inked agreement in Dubai. Curaçao has set a target to eliminate fossil fuels by 2045, aspiring to rely entirely on sustainable energy sources on the island.

To realize this objective, Curaçao has formed a partnership with Blue Planet Alliance and Greening the Islands. The opposition party is seeking clarification on how this agreement will impact the future of the island's refinery. Additionally, MAN is keen to understand the strategies that government-owned entities Aqualectra and Curoil will implement to align with this sustainability goal. Furthermore, the party is inquiring about plans for phasing out diesel vehicles and introducing electric cars.

At the recent UN Climate Conference, participating nations pledged to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius and work towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
