WILLEMSTAD - The deal with Klesch Group as the new operator of the refinery is expected to be completed by the end of June, but there is likely to be a delay.
This is what Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath announced during the daily briefing. The plan was that Klesch would start operating the refinery in Curaçao in July, but this may not be feasible due to the corona crisis.
The government is in talks with other companies to be able to step in temporarily until Klesch takes over. The aim is still to make a deal with them.
Meanwhile, the oil tanks at Bullen Bay are being repaired to store crude oil. This after several international companies have requested storage during this time that the price of oil is at a historic low.
