Isla refutes allegations made by RdK Director in parliament about debt

WILLEMSTAD - Immediately after the Director of the State-owned company Curaçao Refinery Marcelino Dellanoy, the Isla Refinery send a memo to its employees. "Contrary to what is claimed by Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK) in parliament, the Isla refinery actually pays the monthly lease of 2.9 million guilders to RdK," said Isla in the memo.

What (RdK) calls a refinery debt is, according to Isla, actually more a dispute between RdK and Isla.

According to the Isla management, RdK (as the owner of Boo / Cuoc / Cru) and Isla met to discuss this last Friday "to make an agreement that would be fair for both parties".

According to the Isla, the contract between Isla and Boo / Cuoc / Cru at the moment is not balanced. If Isla does not comply with its agreements, Boo / Cuoc / Cru can go to Court. Isla must, however, turn to international arbitration if it believes to be right. This is the reason why for example the Boo / Cuoc / Cru have never paid Isla the 18 million guilders to which Isla is entitled, because Boo / Cuoc / Cru have not delivered."

In the memo Isla denies the other statements of RdK and the government in parliament about Isla earlier this week and the Isla management wonders what the "purpose of these statements" is. "The Isla refinery will not participate in a public and political discussion, as this does not contribute to the goal of keeping the refinery open," said the management.
