WILLEMSTAD - On April 19, the Supervisory Board of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (the “Supervisory Board”), in view of the seriousness of the issue, announced an independent investigation into the facts and circumstances in which, among other things, confidential information which the Central Bank (CBCS) has shared with third parties.
Based on these facts and circumstances, the Supervisory Board can assess the extent to which the CBCS has acted within the legal frameworks of the Bank Statute and the Country of Curaçao. For the investigation of the facts, the methodology was used whereby, in addition to studying underlying documentation, interviews were held with the members of the Executive Board and various employees of the Bank.
The investigation is now in the final phase and the Supervisory Board has received provisional final reports. As part of the hearing, last Monday, the Supervisory Board gave the members of the Executive Board, especially the interim president Leila Matroos-Lasten, the opportunity to provide input and / or comments before the Supervisory Board will determine its position in this regard.
