Governor of Curaçao to review credentials of candidate Member of Parliament

WILLEMSTAD - The Kingdom Government has charged the Governor of Curaçao by order in council of today to review the credentials of the candidate Member of Parliament who is eligible to fill the vacant seat in Parliament. In connection with this, the Governor has requested from Parliament the documents presented to Parliament by the Electoral Council and the candidate for that review.

The Parliament, the Supreme Electoral Council and the candidate will be notified of the outcome of the review. If the credentials are found to be in order, the candidate Member of Parliament may request the Governor to be given the opportunity to take the oath or affirmation. The Governor will then determine when that opportunity will be offered.

After the oath has been taken, an official report of swearing in will be handed over to the Member of Parliament. From that moment on, the new member can participate in meetings of Parliament.
