Government working on membership CARICOM

WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath hopes that Curaçao will soon become a member of the Caribbean trade organization CARICOM. He said that yesterday in a radio interview.

According to Rhuggenaath, the talks were already at an advanced stage when Curaçao was still part of the Netherlands Antilles. After this, it was necessary to examine again what exactly was possible in terms of agreements with an autonomous country within the Kingdom and the process was restarted.

"There is now clarity and CARICOM would also like to work with Curaçao." Migration, information, trade, but also education are topics in which Rhuggenaath sees cooperation with the other members of the Caribbean organization.
