Government honors little league team

WILLEMSTAD - The Rhuggenaath cabinet honored the Little League champions in Fort Amsterdam today. Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath thanked all the boys for their courage shown in representing our country during the world series, and for returning with the 'international' championship and as sub-champion of the tournament.

“Our boys have captured the hearts of the American fans, many have talked about the talent, but also the modest behavior of the Curaçao team,” said the Prime Minister. Also Urny Floran, Eugene Sambo, trainers Edmar Cornelia, Anthony Cijntje and manager 'Lo' Celestina have also been honored with a beautiful pin of the flag of Curaçao.

The Prime Minister also thanked the team for their contribution to a positive image of Curaçao. “You were a dignified representative of our identity and our flag abroad and the whole of Curaçao is grateful for that. Bravo!”
