Food packages from the Food Bank guaranteed until the end of July

WILLEMSTAD - The Food Bank Curaçao (Fundashon Yudansa pa Korsou) has concluded an agreement with Red Cross Curaçao for the provision of food packages to deprived persons. Red Cross Curaçao has been appointed by the Dutch government to coordinate the funds allocated by the Netherlands.

The Food Bank has many years of experience and knowledge in the composition, purchase, production, and distribution of food packages. In the last three months, the Food Bank, and the Cooperating Aid Organization Curaçao have scaled up its monthly production from 350 to 12,000 packages per month. Many volunteers and other organizations have worked intensively with the Food Bank on this emergency aid. Thousands of registrations for a package were processed by a call center in a professional database, so that the distribution could be carried out smoothly and clearly. As of April 10, the counter of the total number of food parcels provided is 27,155. The average value of a package is f75.

In addition to the many local and foreign donations from private individuals and organizations, the Food Bank can use this additional financial support from the Netherlands to plan and implement the provision of food packages through the Red Cross until the end of July.

The Red Cross and the Food Bank have made agreements about the use of the funds and have been laid down in a contract.

Present at the contract negotiations and signing were Jeroen van Keer, General Coordinator Project BZK, Maisy Schurbay, manager Red Cross Curaçao, Sheryl Losiabaar, chairman Fundashon Yudansa pa Korsou (Food Bank), Alfred Palm, chairman Board Red Cross Curaçao, Charles Sintjacoba jr, Cash Voucher Assistance Red Cross Curaçao.
