FIFA president Gianni Infantino congratulates Curaçao on historic World Cup qualification

WILLEMSTAD, ZÜRICH - FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated Curaçao on its first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup. In a video message posted on social media, Infantino praised the island’s remarkable achievement and expressed admiration for a nation that has now secured its place on football’s biggest stage.

Curaçao clinched its World Cup berth after a dramatic draw against Jamaica in Kingston — a result that sent waves of celebration across the island and throughout the global football community.

“Congratulations to Curaçao on a fantastic achievement,” Infantino said. “This is only your fourth cycle as an independent nation, but you have inspired all of us. You fully deserve this qualification.”

“The world will see your talent and passion”

Infantino emphasized that Curaçao’s presence will add even more energy to what he called the biggest and most spectacular World Cup in history.

“Your participation will make the excitement even greater,” he continued. “The world will see your talented players and passionate fans. We can’t wait to welcome you next summer — and to see you at the draw.”

World Cup draw coming December 5

Curaçao will learn its group-stage opponents on December 5, when the official World Cup draw takes place in Washington, D.C. The tournament itself will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Curaçao’s qualification has already drawn global attention, and Infantino’s message underscores the significance of the island’s historic debut on the world stage.
