Dutch Parliamentary Committee Visits Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire for Working Trip Focused on Kingdom Relations

THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD – From Sunday, May 4 to Friday, May 9, 2025, the Kingdom Relations Committee of the Dutch House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) will carry out a working visit to Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire. The trip is part of an initial introduction for new committee members to the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. 

During the visit, discussions will center on key topics such as economic development, sustainability, education, healthcare, housing, public safety, and the rule of law. 

The delegation includes the following members of the Dutch Parliament: 

O.C. (Olger) van Dijk (NSC), Chair of the Permanent Committee on Kingdom Relations 

R.J. (Raoul) White (GroenLinks/PvdA) 

A. (Aukje) de Vries (VVD) 

F.H. (Faith) Bruyning (NSC) 

P. (Mpanzu) Bamenga (D66) 

D.G.M. (Don) Ceder (ChristenUnie) 

In May 2024, the same committee visited the other three Caribbean islands within the Kingdom: Saba, St. Eustatius, and St. Maarten. Following both visits, the committee will have engaged with all Caribbean partners of the Kingdom. 

Brief overview of the itinerary: 

Sunday, May 4: Travel from Amsterdam to Aruba 

Monday, May 5: Aruba – Meetings and visits focused on youth, economic development, security, and agriculture 

Tuesday, May 6: Aruba – Visits focused on sustainability and economic development; continuation of the trip to Curaçao, including meetings on governance and Kingdom Relations 

Wednesday, May 7: Curaçao – Meetings and visits focused on youth, sustainability, economic development, climate, and healthcare 

Thursday, May 8: Travel to Bonaire – Meetings and visits focused on education, public safety, and the rule of law 

Friday, May 9: Bonaire – Visits related to agriculture, economic development, social housing, and civil society; return to Amsterdam 

The committee's working visit aims to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation within the Kingdom, while ensuring parliamentary oversight of shared responsibilities.
