Dutch Parliament wants to talk about the Sofa Treaty

THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - The accession of Curaçao to the Sofa Treaty must go through the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament. Normally a piece of cake, but due to the situation in Venezuela, the parties in The Hague still want to investigate the matter.

The treaty regulates the legal position of American military personnel on Curaçao and already applies to all other islands. According to Minister Stef Blok of Foreign Relations, the treaty has nothing to do with American involvement in providing aid to Venezuela via Curaçao.
