Dutch MPs: Discourage travel to destinations with code orange and yellow

THE HAGUE - Dutch Members of Parliament Van Esch and Van Raan (both PvdD) want the government to actively discourage travel to destinations to which the orange code applies - such as Aruba and Sint Maarten. This is evident from written questions to the Ministers Van Nieuwenhuizen (Infrastructure), De Jonge (Public Health) and Blok (Foreign Affairs).

The MPs point out that 1 in 5 new corona patients in the Netherlands recently went on holiday abroad. "Do you acknowledge that the" code orange "warning is apparently not sufficient to limit the number of unnecessary trips to risk areas? How will you prevent people from traveling en masse to destinations with code orange?”

Van Esch and Van Raan consider it sensible to actively discourage travel to destinations with code yellow and are urging for a campaign to discourage these holidays. Code yellow applies to Curaçao and Bonaire, among others. This means that travel to these destinations is not discouraged, provided local precautions are adhered to.
