Dr. Ingemar Merkies M.D., Phd appointed Medical Director on the Board of Directors for Curaçao Medical Center

WILLEMSTAD - The Supervisory Board of HNO together with Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Curaçao Medical Center have gone through the recruitment and selection procedure for hiring a medical director for the new hospital in recent months, and recently appointed the neurologist Dr. Ingemar Merkies.

For many, Dr. Merkies is already a well-known neurologist on the island. The Curaçao doctor has completed his medical education cum laude at the Free University of Amsterdam. Afterwards, Merkies studied neurology at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, where he also graduated cum laude, and trained in the Rasch methodology at Leeds University in England. After working for 20 years in the Netherlands at various hospitals including St. Elisabeth Hospital in Haarlem, Slotervaart Hospital in Amsterdam, Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam and Spaarne Hospital in Hoofddorp, he has been working as a neurologist at the Sint Elisabeth Hospital since 2016.

Dr. Merkies has organized various international workshops and is affiliated with the Maastricht UMC + for scientific research.

 

The chairman of the Board of Directors of the Curaçao Medical Center is delighted that to welcome Dr. Ingemar Merkies as a member of the board of directors. Dr. Merkies will take up his new position on October 1, 2019.
