Detention suspects RdK prolonged

WILLEMSTAD - The detention of the two suspects that were arrested last week in the corruption case of the Curaçao Refinery has been prolonged. The investigation has been dubbed “Lacerta”. This is the investigation into corruption during the negotiating process for a new refinery operator.

Gregory Cijntje and Michele Kinburn were brought before the examining magistrate who approved the extension of their detention. The other two suspects, Van Kwartel and Isidora are also behind bars pending the investigation.

When there was a clear suspicion that there was an attempt to bribe during the refinery negotiations, these four key players were suspended, and Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath filed a complaint at the Public Prosecution Service.
