THE HAGUE - The conditions for renewed support for the islands are being discussed in the Kingdom Council of Ministers today.
This takes into account that the representatives of each of the islands (Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten) first want to have a consultation with their governments. In that case, a decision on whether to grant new aid will be taken on 10 July. The terms are not yet known, but will be more stringent as has been required so far.
In any case, there will be a new, Dutch-controlled entity on the island that will control the money flows, as a result of which the Curaçao government will be sidelined for the time being.
