Curaçao’s Ambulance Service to Be Integrated into Ministry of Health

WILLEMSTAD – The ambulance service in Curaçao, Fundashon Kuido di Ambulans Kòrsou, will soon be incorporated into the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature. The announcement was made by caretaker Minister Javier Silvania during the opening of the Dutch Caribbean Public Health Experts Network Conference held on the island.

The integration is part of a broader effort to improve emergency medical care across Curaçao. According to the minister, the reform is not a simple administrative adjustment but a structural transformation aimed at saving lives. By bringing the ambulance service under the direct responsibility of the ministry, the government hopes to enhance coordination within the healthcare system and ensure faster, more efficient emergency responses.

Special emphasis will be placed on vulnerable groups, particularly pregnant women and newborns. Silvania stressed that integrating the ambulance foundation into the ministry will help create a smoother, more cohesive healthcare chain and improve the alignment of emergency services with hospitals and other care providers.

An exact date for the integration has yet to be announced.
