Curaçao not without damage due to ICAO audit

One of the problems is that the legislation is still not in order.

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority has not yet succeeded in passing the audit of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). With a 4.6 as a grade, it has achieved a big fail.

Curaçao has 90 days to improve the score, followed by a final ICAO report. The civil aviation authority then has 45 days to respond.

The auditors of the international organization were on the island from 2 to 12 September to form an opinion on Curaçao aviation.

One of the problems is that the legislation is still not in order. Neither have any professionals been hired to implement new procedures.

CATEGORY 1

The ICAO assessment does not yet have any consequences for the return to category 1. That is a matter for the FAA in the United States.

But the investigation of the international organization for civil aviation is an important step. As soon as the ICAO audit gives a good result, the civil aviation authority will request an audit from the FAA.
