Curaçao Government Submits Resignation Ahead of Elections

WILLEMSTAD – On Thursday, March 20, 2025, Curaçao’s Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, along with members of the Council of Ministers and the Minister Plenipotentiary, formally submitted the resignation of the Pisas II Cabinet to Governor Lucille A. George-Wout. This procedural step comes in accordance with the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for Friday, March 21, 2025. 

The resignation marks the official transition period as Curaçao prepares to elect a new parliament and government. In keeping with tradition, the outgoing cabinet will continue in a caretaker role until a new coalition is formed and sworn in.
