Curaçao fails to honor commitment: Van Huffelen unable to address parliamentary inquiries

THE HAGUE - The government of Curaçao has displayed a lack of willingness to keep the Secretary of State for Kingdom Relations informed regarding Minister Silvania's decision to forgo the collection of billions in outstanding tax reports.

To effectively respond to written questions posed by MP Kamminga, Van Huffelen requires the necessary information from Willemstad. However, due to the failure to provide this information "despite multiple assurances from Curaçao," officials of the Ministry of Kingdom Relations state that it cannot be obtained within the designated timeframe.

The VVD party deems it "unacceptable" for the Curaçao government to forego collecting billions in tax payments while simultaneously urging the Netherlands to subsidize reform initiatives on the island.
