WILLEMSTAD - CCAA, the Curaçao aviation authority has a new director-general. Peter Steinmetz officially started this month. Hans de Jong, his predecessor, trained him last week. Both know each other well from the Dutch National Aviation Service in the 1990s.
The Curaçao Aviation Authority has always had temporary directors for years. Peter Steinmetz worked at Aruba Airport between 2004 and 2014. First as managing director, later as CEO. Before that, he was a senior manager at Schiphol.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Traffic and Transport, Mr. Steinmetz has a vast experience in the field of civil aviation, and he is specialized in airport management, strategic development in the aviation sector and change policy and restructuring.
One of Steinmetz focus will be to conclude the audit from the Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and to continue working on the organization to be able to gain category 1 of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
