Cruise tourism is rising sharply

WILLEMSTAD - Cruise tourism is on the rise. In 2018, 757,278 passengers came to Curaçao with a cruise ship. A year earlier that was 634,370. These figures come from the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA).

The year 2019 also started promising. On New Year's Day, four cruise ships docked, with 9,000 tourists on board together.

Freedom of the Seas of Royal Caribbean International brought 4,375 passengers and the Britannia of P&O Cruises had 4,324 passengers on board.

When constructing the second mega pier, the Tula Pier, the CPA promised to be able to bring one million cruise tourists to the island every year.
