WILLEMSTAD - Today epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth gave an update on the tests being conducted related to the COVID-19 virus. In total 485 people have been tested to far. Curaçao remains at 16 confirmed cases. Currently 8 people are being actively monitored.
Those in travel-related quarantine are 350. On the cruise ship that is docked in Willemstad there are 191 crewmembers who are in the mandatory quarantine. They are being monitored by their own doctor who is in constant contact with the epidemiology department of the Ministry of Health. The crewmembers need to remain on board the ship for 14 days. At the end of the mandatory quarantine they will be tested and it the results are negative, they are then allowed to go off the ship.
The Dutch Navy also adheres to the mandatory quarantine. Currently there is only one officer in supervised quarantine.
