WILLEMSTAD - On July 14, 2020, the court of first instance convicted a 19-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman for theft at Connections in Otrobanda and a burglary at Multitronics in Saliña, committed during the riot on June 24.
The man, a student who was tried as a minor because of his youth and personality was sentenced to 180 days 'juvenile detention, 160 of which were conditional and 120 hours' community service.
The woman, mother of a 5-year-old child, was sentenced to 6 months 'imprisonment, including 4 months' probation and 120 hours of community service. Together they must pay an amount of approximately Naf 4,000 in damages to Multitronics.
Already 11 others were convicted last Friday for their involvement in the looting on June 24. Their sentences ranged from 6 weeks' imprisonment, of which 4 were conditional to 6 months unconditional.
The summary hearing will continue July 23 with cases against five more suspects.
