Council of Ministers Takes Key Decisions on State Affairs

WILLEMSTAD – During its meeting on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the Council of Ministers of Curaçao made several important decisions concerning national matters.

Support for Stichting Dog Curaçao

The government has approved a budget amendment to fund the clean-up of a designated site and the relocation of Stichting Dog Curaçao, an organization dedicated to the welfare of stray and abandoned dogs. The move is intended to provide the foundation with better facilities and improve animal welfare conditions on the island.

Facilitating SME Financing

The Council also reviewed a letter from the Minister of Economic Development to the Dutch State Secretary for Kingdom Relations confirming Curaçao’s participation in the BMKB ACS scheme (Borgstelling MKB-kredieten Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten). This guarantee scheme is designed to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to gain access to financing, thereby stimulating entrepreneurship and economic growth in the Dutch Caribbean.

The government emphasized that both measures reflect its commitment to supporting social initiatives and strengthening the economy.
