WILLEMSTAD - The Divi Divi and Corendon adventure has come to a premature end today, now that Corendon Dutch Airlines has flown the Boeing 737 stationed here back to the Netherlands to be operated in Europe.
Originally the collaboration between Divi Divi and Corendon on the route to Sint Maarten and Sao Paulo (Brazil) would be continued until 15 April.
The early end of the collaboration on the route is a direct consequence of the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max in large parts of the world. Corendon also has these planes in its fleet, which means there is a shortage of aircraft.
"Corendon needs the plane to operate it in its European routes," said Divi Divi director Germaine Richie in the media. According to Richie, Divi Divi Air, together with Corendon, is looking for alternatives.
The intention is that the aircraft in question will be operated from Curaçao again in the winter season. "If all goes well, the aircraft will return to Curaçao in October this year," Richie said.
