BADHOEVEDORP - On Thursday, Corendon has signed an agreement with KLM to purchase almost a quarter of a million seats on flights to and from Curaçao for three years from next winter season. In this way the holiday organization assures itself of sufficient capacity to bring the growing number of tourists to the Curaçao.

Corendon will expand considerably in the coming years on Curaçao and will open the new Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort near Willemstad on April 1 of this year. This all-inclusive five-star hotel has more than 380 rooms at the opening, but that will then be expanded to more than 850 rooms in 2021. This will make it the largest hotel on the island by far.

More flights

Partly due to this cooperation, KLM wants to fly to Curaçao twice a day in the long term. There is no specific date for this yet, the airline informed Luchvaartnieus.nl when signing the agreement. It still depends on a number of factors, such as tourism growth and the number of slots available.

The value of the deal is not disclosed, but Corendon founder Atilay Uslu joked that it costs him just as much as the construction of the Corendon Village Hotel in Badhoevedorp, where the signing took place, and the Corendon Boeing 747 added together.
