Continuation of dialogue on migration flows from Venezuela

WILLEMSTAD - A combined delegation from the UN Refugee Organization (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) paid a visit to Prime Minister, Mr. Eugene Rhuggenaath and the Minister of Justice, Mr. Quincy Girigorie. The purpose of the visit was to continue discussions already started on, among other things, the response to migration flows and to further build up the mutual relationship.

The organizations have again promised to support the government in finding solutions to the complex problems that the Venezuelan crisis entails for Curaçao. The importance of a joint regional approach and data exchange was also emphasized.

Both Chiara Cardoletti, acting regional representative of the United States and the Caribbean for UNHCR, and Robert Natielo, regional coordinator for the Caribbean of the IOM, thanked the ministers for the current good cooperation and expressed the wish to continue this.
