Complaint against former Minister of Economy rejected by court

WILLEMSTAD - Today the Court has ruled on the complaint of Kòrsou di Nos Tur (KdNT) and Mr Amparo Dos Santos and Carlos Monk regarding the lack of prosecution of former minister of economic development Dr. Steven Martina.

The Court concludes that although with regard to Martina there is a reasonable presumption of guilt for violation of Article 21 of the National Integrity (Candidate) Ministers Ordinance, neither the KdNT legal person nor Dos Santos and Monk can be considered as a direct stakeholder as referred to in Article 15 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

It cannot be said that KdNT, Dos Santos and Monk were affected by the absence of criminal prosecution in an interest that is of particular concern to them. The court, therefore, cannot honor their complaint.

The complaint was therefore rejected.
