WILLEMSTAD - The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard made an announcement to all owners of smaller vessels, such as fishing boats, pleasure boats, seadoo's, and other water sports enthusiasts. The Meteorological Service today issued a 'code red' for Curaçao and 'code orange' for Aruba.
In connection with this, the Coast Guard advises not to go out to sea and to take precautions for the vessels and secure them.
For boat owners who have a vessel at a marina or inland waterway, it is advisable to remove their vessel from the water in time and store it safely. This is to prevent vessels from sinking unnecessarily or causing or sustaining damage. From an environmental point of view, it is also advisable to remove the vessel from the water so that it does not pose a risk to the environment because oil, petrol, or diesel flows into the sea in the event of possible damage or sinking of the vessel. Prevent unsafe situations and secure the vessel in time.
