Civil servants meet with union leaders during working hours

WILLEMSTAD - All unions representing civil servants have called on their members today to vote on the proposed cut of 12.5 percent of their terms of employment. An information meeting will first take place in the SDK stadium. The cut is a condition that the Netherlands has set for granting a loan to absorb the consequences of the corona crisis.

The unions themselves are against the 12.5 percent cut on the annual benefits package. President of the largest union ABVO Adrie Williams said yesterday that he was against the cut. Education union Sitek is also against this proposal.

The other side of the story indicates that a group of civil servants have written a letter to Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath. According to them, it is best for Rhuggenaath to sweep a broom through the public apparatus and clean it up.

He must tackle civil servants who do not want to work. According to the group, there are enough good employees, but the government must do something about the group that does not work and does not agree with all the new measures to improve the islands financial situation.
