CHATA does not agree with substantial increase in airport tax

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Hotel and Tourism Association (CHATA) does not agree with the proposed increase in airport tax. The interest group of Hotels and Apartments sees a sharp increase of $ 210 per passenger as a blow to tourism that is in a restart phase after the corona crisis and the border closure which affected the entire industry.

Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) says it should raise his airport taxes due to loss of income caused by the lockdown, but emphatically states that it is just a proposal. CAP announced this in a statement yesterday which was also published on this website.

According to the information received before CAP’s statement, international passengers should pay an additional $ 210 on their ticket to come on vacation to Curacao.
