CBS starts with a Business Survey for the first half of 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) will start this month with a Business Survey (first half of 2021) in Curaçao.

The aim of this research is to provide up-to-date information on business and economic developments on a frequent basis.

The survey will be conducted among all companies with ten or more employees, while a sample will be taken of companies with fewer than ten employees. In total, around 900 companies will be approached by the CBS.

The questions concern, among other things, estimates of turnover for the first half of 2021. In addition, there are also questions relating to the business owner's opinion on a number of indicators such as investment barriers, competitive position, business confidence and investment climate.

With such information, both government and business owners can make better, faster and more informed decisions.

The research will be conducted completely confidentially in accordance with the Statistics Act.

The input from the business community is, of course, of great importance for the success of this research. CBS therefore appeals to all companies that are approached to cooperate in this research and thanks them in advance for the effort they have taken.

A key result of the 2021 survey is the economic index.

The business cycle index, aggregated on the basis of confidence in the future, the perception of the investment climate and turnover changes. In December 2019, the economic index was 53, then fell to 30 percent in June 2020 and rose again to 34.1%.
