WILLEMSTAD - On Tuesday, October 29, the management of Aqualectra welcomed Gerdine Keijzer-Baldé, Secretary General for Environment and Green Space, and her delegation for a social visit. During the meeting, Aqualectra’s management took the opportunity to brief the visitors on the company’s progress toward achieving 70% renewable energy penetration in its electricity production. The delegation was also given a tour of Aqualectra’s Control Center, where they observed that the company has already reached 50% renewable energy integration into its grid.
In the 2026 Netherlands national budget, it was announced that Aqualectra will receive a subsidy under the SDE++ program (Stimulering Duurzame Energieproductie en Klimaattransitie), which supports large-scale renewable energy generation and CO₂ reduction initiatives. Aqualectra plans to use this subsidy to strengthen grid stability and resilience, advancing its goal of achieving 70% renewable energy in its production mix.
Secretary General Keijzer-Baldé and the members of her delegation expressed their admiration for Aqualectra’s independent progress in the field of renewable energy and extended their compliments to the utility company for its impressive accomplishments.
