All ministerial posts to be filled as soon as possible

WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath, who has taken over the post of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (OWCS) since the resignation of former Education Minister Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé, hopes to welcome a new minister to his cabinet soon, at least within a month.

Premier Rhuggenaath says that his government is still looking for candidates for two ministerial posts, education and public health which is currently under the responsibility of Minister Zita Jesus-Leito of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning. The Premier indicated that even though there will be elections soon, these two posts need to be manned to guarantee continuation.

Whether the candidates are persons from his own party or experts in the field of education and health, the prime minister does not say. He does indicate that he has spoken with various experts. "That was not easy ... to convince them to become ministers just a few months before the elections," said Rhuggenaath, who then indicates that it depends on the screening procedure, but that he hopes the new minister can start within a month.
