"Aboutaleb himself fails with drug policy"

WILLEMSTAD - Aboutaleb tries to shift the attention of the failing drug policy of the Netherlands to Curaçao. This was declared by the Minister of Justice Quincy Girigorie.

The Minister responds to statements made by the mayor of Rotterdam. During his visit last week, Aboutaleb was angry about the broken drug scanners on the island that are not being repaired.

According to Girigorie, the Netherlands is a narco state and the underworld has infiltrated the justice system in Rotterdam.

The Minister stressed that the Netherlands is one of the largest drug importers (and makers of XTC) and Curaçao is just a trampoline. “We do not produce it and we do not use it,” said the Minister.

“The idea that only by fighting the problem in Curaçao the big problem will be solved is a mirage. The problem is the import!”

In a reaction, Minister Girigorie immediately denies that the drug scanner at the airport is defective: “It works just fine. And Aboutaleb knows that too. I cannot comment on other scanners,” said the Minister.

Girigorie stresses that if Aboutaleb really wants to solve the problem in which the Netherlands is an important link, they will have to do that together. “There is no room in that to point the accusing finger, because three of those fingers then point back to the Netherlands and Rotterdam.”
