Winter session of Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultation (IpKo) officially canceled

THE HAGUE - The winter session of the Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultation (IpKo), originally scheduled for early January in Aruba, has been officially canceled. The meeting was postponed due to the upcoming snap elections on December 6, which limited the capacity to prepare for the biannual consultation.

Attempts to reschedule or relocate the meeting to Curaçao or Sint Maarten proved unsuccessful, as indicated in the agenda for the November 13 procedural meeting of the Dutch House of Representatives Committee for Kingdom Relations. The agenda notes that during a video conference, delegation leaders “concluded that the IpKo planned for January 2025 in Aruba will not take place.” Following extensive discussions, the committee’s Presidium decided that the next IpKo would be organized by the States-General in June 2025.

Despite repeated intentions expressed by delegations to conduct more frequent video conferences, these interim meetings have yet to materialize.
