Wim Statius Muller passed away

WILLEMSTAD - The well-known Curaçao pianist and composer Wim Statius Muller died yesterday afternoon at the age of 89. He was best known for his mazurkas and waltzes inspired by Chopin.

Statius Muller previously worked in The Hague and Brussels for the Interior Security Service and NATO. In Curaçao he was the founder of the Netherlands Antilles Security Service.

The pianist / composer was awarded the Silver Carnation by the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds in 2012 and was a Knight in the Order of Oranje Nassau.
