Wheelchair ramp Grote Knip to be dismantled

WILLEMSTAD - The Council of Ministers recently decided that the controversial wheelchair ramp at Grote Knip Beach must be demolished. In early November, the construction on the beach began to take shape and there were many baffled reactions from society.

The structure takes up a large stretch of beach and is also very ugly according to many people.

Minister Zita Jesus-Leito of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning subsequently prohibited Melvin 'Mac' Cijntje and Frensel Mercilia from entering their workplace. The construction of the ramp has also been halted because no planning permission has been issued, Jesus-Leito says.

In the meantime, an investigation has taken place into the construction and last Thursday Raymond Jansen was also denied access to the workplace.
