Venezuelan gold no longer via islands

WILLEMSTAD - The import, export and transit of gold from Venezuela is prohibited in Curaçao. Aruba has also introduced such a ban.

The reason is that gold mining in Venezuela is controlled by armed groups. In the past five years, 130,000 kilos of gold have been traded via Curaçao and 30,000 kilos via Aruba.

There is no trade via Bonaire. No figures are available for Sint Maarten.
