Van Huffelen helps with Clean Up Sint Joris

WILLEMSTAD - State Secretary Alexandra van Huffelen of Kingdom Relations helped with a 'coastal cleanup' on Sint Joris on Saturday. The Curaçao Cleanup Foundation organized the cleanup campaign.

Van Huffelen was impressed by the amount of plastic that washes up from the sea. The State Secretary was given an explanation of the importance of keeping plastic free from the nature reserve. In the water, plastic poses a danger to sea turtles and on the coast, it gets trapped in the mangroves, which are the nursery for fish.

In addition to the volunteers, a delegation from Sea Turtle Conservation Curacao and Carmabi Foundation was also present at the cleanup.
