Update: Twelve-year demand in case Dutch intern

WILLEMSTAD - A man and a woman who are suspected of kidnapping a then 17-year-old intern in Curaçao on August 25 last year heard a demand of 12 years in prison from the Public Prosecutor on Friday. The couple also robbed the Dutch intern, assaulted, and threw her off the cliff into the ocean believing she would die.

The girl survived that night by hiding in the water under a protruding rock.

The girl was injured, but eventually managed to swim to a beach. Before that, she had been pressured by the couple to withdraw money from ATM machines a few times. The perpetrators were eventually caught via the security images at the ATMs.
