Update: Supreme Electoral Council: Carolina can take credentials to Parliament despite opposition in his own party

WILLEMSTAD - Despite the resistance of party leader Gerrit Schotte and opposition from the MFK, Juniël Carolina becomes the new Member of Parliament for his party.

Schotte is serving a prison term of three years for, among other things, official corruption. During his last press conference, Schotte expressed his preference for Charetti Eduarda, but Carolina is higher on the list of candidates for the MFK and is according to the law, Schotte’s successor in Parliament.

The former party leader tried to prevent Carolina from taking his place but failed. Appeal in this is not possible and therefore the principal electoral committee handed over the credentials to Carolina. This was confirmed by Charles Dorego of the Supreme Electoral Council.
